E-mail Print PDF

[...] Proposition 16 — Pacific Gas and Electric Co.'s monopoly power grab — has to rank as the most venal, corrupt abuse of the initiative system in California history. The utility spent nearly $50 million to pay for a misleading signature drive, mount a campaign of lies and distortions, create bogus front groups, and flood the airwaves with ads — all in an effort to convince Californians to vote against their own interests. It's a case study in why the state needs initiative reform (a ban on paid signature gatherers and limits on corporate campaign contributions would be good places to start).[...]

Theft at Gas Station

E-mail Print PDF

A victim was at the Arco gas station on PCH/Aviation getting gas. During this time the thieve reached into the unlocked car  and took her purse from the passenger seat. A suspects vehicle was described as a newer Chevy Tahoe. The same crime was committed at the Mobil gas station one block away a week ago.

Surveillance cameras caught it all...this suspect was actually waiting on 11th St. near the Civic Ctr., placed a murky-looking plastic cover over his license plate and pulled around next tothe victims car just after it pulled up.

Be careful!
When leaving your vehicle to pay for the gas, lock your car's doors.

Parrots are back

A few days ago the huge swarm of parrots that visits Hermosa Beach from time to time was seen again. The colorful and verbose birds made themselves at home in the palm trees on Pier Plaza.
